The city where during the Roman Age the Appian Way ended, the place where most Crusaders used to sail towards the Holy Land during the Middle Ages, the Christian site for pilgrims: this is Brindisi, with all its historical layers.
Our tour begins along the seafront, where at the top of a very high staircase copies of the Roman Coloumns, maybe remains of the Appian Way final point are still standing to dominate the huge port of the modern city.
We will then reach Piazza Duomo, with its Baroque style monuments, to visit the Cathedral and catch sight of the many different style palaces overlooking (and decorating) the square.
Some minutes walking distance to visit Palazzo Granafei-Nervegna, housing the original Roman Coloumns of the Appian Way, before reaching the magnificent Church of San Giovanni al Sepolcro, one of the most important churches
of the city during the Middle Ages.
